SECA Diwali Project

I had the amazing opportunity to facilitate 3 different types of workshops for 6 different primary schools in Northern Ireland to create awareness of India and Diwali - the festival of light.

This experience has made me realise the importance of introducing topics of social sciences/cultures to children so they can understand the world they live in. I think it is vital to engage with these children, especially in areas like Northern Ireland where there is not a lot of diversity to prevent sectarianism and racism from developing.

*The Diwali project has been running for the last 10 years in the Strabane & and Derry areas of Northern Ireland by SECA (Strabane Ethnic Community Association).
